Deputies Flagged Down after Man Attempts to Carjack Woman in Rancho Cucamonga

SUSPECT(S): Jorge Diaz, Age 36, Resident of Rialto

On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at 5:46 P.M., a deputy assigned to the Rancho Cucamonga Sheriff’s Station was flagged down by a carjacking victim in the Food 4 Less parking lot, located on Foothill Boulevard.
The victim reported that while seated in the driver’s seat of her vehicle, an unknown male suspect opened the driver’s door and forcibly removed her from the vehicle. The victim resisted the attack and re-entered her vehicle during a struggle with the suspect, who was later identified as Jorge Diaz. The victim prevented Diaz from taking control of the vehicle.
A bystander who witnessed the incident intervened and pulled Diaz away from the victim, allowing the victim to drive away to a safe location within the parking lot. The victim called Sheriff's Dispatch and while on the phone with dispatchers, she flagged down a deputy patrolling in the area.
Diaz was located walking in the business complex and was taken into custody.
Diaz was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for PC 664/215(a)- Attempted Carjacking, with bail set at $45,000.
