Robberies

There was one robbery during the past week.

On Friday, 04-18-25, at approximately 4:37 p.m., an officer was dispatched to PetSmart on Gellert Boulevard on a report of a robbery. A manager stated that he observed a suspect enter the store carrying a tote bag that appeared to be mostly empty. A short while later, the suspect was seen exiting the store holding several items and a large bag of dog food. The manager and an employee followed the suspect out of the store. The suspect began placing the stolen items into the rear of a vehicle. When the manager attempted to retrieve the stolen merchandise, a second suspect standing near the vehicle wrapped his arms around the manager’s neck and shoulder and attempted to throw him to the ground. The manager managed to stay upright but stumbled slightly away. Both suspects then entered the vehicle and fled the scene. At 4:44 p.m., the vehicle was located traveling northbound on I-280, approaching Highway 1. An officer conducted a traffic stop. A white backpack containing suspected narcotics and a pipe was found in the vehicle. Dog leashes, harnesses, accessories, and a bag of dog food were also located in the vehicle. Both suspects were transported to the police department. The manager was able to positively identify both suspects. The first suspect, a 48-year-old San Francisco resident, was booked into jail for robbery and an outstanding warrant. The second suspect, also a 48-year-old San Francisco resident, was booked into jail for robbery and an additional offense.

Nextdoor.com

Nextdoor.com is a free private social networking website for your neighborhood. This private network ensures that only those who live in your neighborhood can join; users must go through a verification process. Neighbors ask each other for business recommendations; help in locating missing pets; discuss relevant local government issues; or connect for other reasons. It is very easy to sign up. I like the fact that the site verifies users by addresses, and it won’t allow people to access a neighborhood if they don’t live there. Please note: The City of Daly City and/or the Police Department cannot see what residents post—we are only allowed to post information. There is also a mobile application, or you can have it sent to your e-mail. Give it a try!  www.nextdoor.com
