Recently the Gilroy Police Department, in coordination with the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA), executed a targeted enforcement operation at several local smoke shops suspected of selling prohibited products, including flavored tobacco and psilocybin mushroom-based substances.
The collaborative operation resulted in the service of four search warrants at businesses within the City of Gilroy. During inspections and subsequent searches, investigators located and seized a significant quantity of flavored tobacco products — currently prohibited under California law — as well as psilocybin-containing items, commonly known as “magic mushrooms.”
The following businesses were cited by the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration for violations related to the possession and sale of contraband products:
- Cloudz Smoke Shop, 8395 Forest Street, Gilroy
- Green Rush Smoke Shop, 8620 San Ysidro Avenue, Gilroy
- Rock Zone Smoke Shop, 1323 First Street, Gilroy
- Fusion Smoke Shop, 8375 Monterey Road, Gilroy
We will continue to partner with state agencies to ensure that businesses operate within the bounds of the law and do not contribute to the availability of illegal and potentially harmful substances.
