Incident: Repeat DUI Offender Arrested for DUI and Other Offenses
Occurred Date : April 25th, 2025
Occurred Time: 10:13 PM
Location: E. Washington Street/ Payran Street
Suspect: Eduardo Zuniga-Loza (30-year-old Petaluma resident)
Charges: 23152(a) CVC/ 2800.1 PC/ 69 PC/ 3455 PC/ 14601.2(a) CVC
On 04/25/2025 at approximately 10:13 PM, a Petaluma Police Officer observed a white sedan commit a number of vehicle code infractions near the intersection of E. Washington Street and Payran Street. The officer activated her emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop.
Despite the officer activating her emergency lights and siren, the driver, later identified as Eduardo Zuniga-Loza, who refused to stop and a slow speed pursuit was initiated. The driver continued for nearly a mile and stopped in the parking lot of an apartment complex on Magnolia Avenue.
Zuniga was ultimately detained and showed objective signs of alcohol intoxication. Officers learned that he was on PRCS and had prior DUI convictions. Also, his license was suspended for a prior DUI arrest.
Officers attempted to conduct field sobriety tests and determined that he was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. During the arrest he resisted and threatened to harm several officers.
He was arrested and later transported to the Sonoma County Jail and booked for the following offenses:
23152(a)/(b) CVC- DUI +.08% BAC (Felony)
2800.1 CVC- Failure to Yield to Officer
69 PC- Threaten Peace Officer
3455(a) PC- PRCS Violation
14601.2(a) CVC- Drive with a Suspended Driver License for DUI
