* Flash Flood Warning for... West Central Curry County in east central New Mexico... Northeastern De Baca County in east central New Mexico... Southwestern Quay County in east central New Mexico... Northwestern Roosevelt County in east central New Mexico...
* Until 1030 PM MDT.
* At 728 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Two to 5 inches of rain fell over the warned area last night. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas.
* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... House, Tolar and Taiban. This includes Highway 60 between Mile Markers 331 and 346.
* AFFECTED AREAS: CURRY, NM ... DE BACA, NM ... QUAY, NM ... ROOSEVELT, NM
Instructions:
Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create sudden and dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings.
