Disaster Resource Center at 129 Barnes Rd., Marion, NC to Permanently Close on April 30th, 2025
The Disaster Resource Center at Emergency Services Headquarters (129 Barnes Rd, Marion, NC 28752) will permanently close on Wednesday, April 30 at 5:00 p.m. Residents who still need assistance are encouraged to contact NC Disaster Case Management at 844-746-2326, FEMA at 800-621-3362, or the Small Business Administration at 571-686-5772.
Deadline to Apply for Free Disaster Debris Removal is May 1st, 2025
Until May 1st, 2025, McDowell County residents may be eligible to have qualified disaster debris removed from their property at no cost through the Private Property Debris Removal (PPDR) Program. Apply in person from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., seven days a week at McDowell County Emergency Services at 129 Barnes Rd., Marion, NC 28752. If you cannot apply in person, we can come to you. Call 828-652-3241 (press 1) to schedule an appointment.
NC Launches the State Private Road and Bridge Repair Program
Governor Stein has announced the launch of the State Private Road and Bridge Repair Program website. As part of Executive Order #2, this program is designed to assist property owners in Western North Carolina who have sustained damage to private roads or bridges. State officials are working to secure additional funding and expedite services. McDowell County residents with eligible damages are encouraged to submit their interest in participating by visiting www.ncdps.gov/helene/prb
