Brown Charged with Larceny of a Motor Vehicle
Detective Kyle Gibson with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged 43-year-old Brandon Kyle Brown of Old Fort with felony Larceny of a Motor Vehicle. He received no bond due to being out on pretrial release for unrelated charges.
On March 2, Deputy James Day spoke with an individual about a vehicle taken from a vacant property that belonged to a deceased family member.
On Friday, March 14, Detective Kyle Gibson located the vehicle, a 1988 Jeep truck, at a local towing business. The business owner reported a request had been made by Old Fort Fire Department to tow the truck, which had been set on fire and abandoned at the intersection of Moffit Hill Branch and Bat Cave roads.
A search of the vehicle by Det. Gibson turned up a fictitious bill of sale issued to Brown.
