The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community. 
 
MONDAY, APRIL 21, 2025: 
 
4:19 AM Officer Shaffer investigated a commercial break-in on Newpark Mall Road. Entry was gained by shattering the front door.
 
5:28 AM Officer Orozco responded to a commercial break-in near Smith Ave & Cherry St. Entry was made by prying open the door.
 
8:35 AM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a vehicle burglary that occurred on Newpark Mall Rd. Loss included personal items and a wallet.
 
9:00 AM Officer Stevenson conducted a traffic stop near Newark Blvd & Highway 84. The driver, a 40-year-old male, was arrested for an outstanding warrant, and possession of narcotics. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
12:57 PM Officer Diaz-Perez conducted a pedestrian stop near Hickory St & Thornton Ave. A 37-year-old male was arrested for violating probation and possession of narcotics. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
2:46 PM Officer C. Torres investigated the report of a stolen license plate near Jarvis St & Newark Blvd.
 
3:48 PM CSO Lau investigated the report of a theft from a vehicle on Mowry School Rd. Loss included vehicle paperwork and personal items.
 
4:45 PM CSO Lau investigated a burglary occurring at Birch Grove Park. Loss of electrical components.
 
TUESDAY, APRIL 22, 2025:
 
3:30 AM Officers investigated a string of commercial burglaries caused by smashing or prying a door on Mowry School Rd.
 
11:22 AM Officer Shaffer responded to a commercial burglary on Balentine Dr. Entry was made by prying the front door open. Loss included cash register contents and a tip jar.
 
9:56 PM Officer Jackman investigated a wallet theft that occurred near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
 
11:45 PM Officer Dale conducted a traffic stop near Cedar Blvd & Smith St. A 31-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 23, 2025:
 
4:21 AM Officer Norvell investigated a vehicle theft reported near Cherry St & Buena Vista Dr.
 
4:23 AM Officer Dale initiated a pedestrian stop on Cedar Blvd & Cedar Ct. A 46-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics, fraud and violating probation. A 51-year-old male was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Both subjects were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
7:49 AM Officer Berlanga responded to the report of a suspicious vehicle observed near Cherry St & Sea Turtle Ave. It was determined to be stolen and was recovered.  
 
1:01 PM Officer Lara investigated a stolen vehicle reported near Mowry Ave & Rockrose Dr.
 
1:48 PM Officer C. Torres was dispatched to a domestic disturbance near Thornton Ave & Sycamore St.
 
THURSDAY, APRIL 24, 2025:
 
12:36 AM CSO Mora was dispatched to Newpark Mall Rd to investigate a window smash vehicle burglary. Reported loss included a backpack containing tools.
 
10:19 AM Officer Piquette initiated a security check on Cedar Blvd & Cedar Ct. A 43-year-old female and 47-year-old male were arrested for identity theft, violation of probation and possession of narcotics. Both were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
6:10 PM Officer Berlanga responded to a shoplifting report on Newpark Mall Rd. A 45-year-old female and 53-year-old male were arrested on multiple charges including shoplifting, outstanding warrants, providing false information, possession of narcotics and identity theft. Both were booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
8:18 PM Officer Soto was dispatched to Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave for an unwanted guest. A 35-year-old male with an outstanding warrant was arrested for shoplifting. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
11:30 PM Officer C. Torres investigated a commercial burglary near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
 
11:57 PM Officers responded to a carjacking that occurred near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave.
 
FRIDAY, APRIL 25, 2025:
 
12:42 AM Officer C. Torres responded to a collision near Thornton Ave & Marshlands Rd and arrested a 25-year-old male for driving under the influence. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
10:48 AM Sergeant Fredstrom initiated a pedestrian stop on Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave for a known probationer. The 43-year-old male was arrested for violating probation and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
11:42 AM Officer Kapu responded to a collision reported near Newpark Mall Rd & Mowry Ave. A 29-year-old male was arrested and cited for driving without a license.
 
12:10 PM Officer Lara investigated a package theft near Seawind Way & Willow St.
 
7:29 PM Officer Shaffer investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Newark Blvd & Lafayette Ave.
 
SATURDAY, APRIL 26, 2025:
 
12:40 AM Officer Soto initiated a traffic stop near Thornton Ave & Sycamore St. A 37-year-old male was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
 
2:01 AM Officer Dale initiated a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle near Cherry St & Mayhews Landing Rd. A 43-year-old male was arrested for false registration and violation of probation.
 
10:45 AM Officer Taylor responded to a battery that occurred near Cedar Blvd & Mowry Ave.
 
5:28 PM CSO Vuong recovered a stolen vehicle near Haley St & Cedar Blvd.
 
6:38 PM Officer Lara responded to a disturbance reported on Thornton Ave & Elm St. A 46-year-old male was booked into Santa Rita Jail for battery.
 
SUNDAY, APRIL 27, 2025:
 
12:42 PM Officer Diaz-Perez initiated a traffic stop on Cedar Blvd & Haley St. A 37-year-old male was arrested for driving without a license and violating a court order.
 
12:44 PM Officer C. Torres investigated a jewelry swap scam near Jarvis Ave & Haley St.
 
1:22 PM Officer C. Torres responded to a medical emergency near Mowry Ave & Cherry St. A 40-year-old male was arrested for possession of narcotics and was released on scene with a citation.
