DATE/TIME: Saturday, April 26, 2025 / 4:23 P.M.

INCIDENT: Assault With Means Likely to Cause Great Bodily Injury, Resisting Law Enforcement with Violence, Attempting to Remove Someone From Law Enforcement Custody Using Violence, Unlawful Assembly

LOCATION: 8600 block of Mulberry Avenue, Unincorporated Fontana

VICTIM: Two San Bernardino County Deputy Sheriffs
Confidential Adult Male

SUSPECT: Pending Investigation

SUMMARY: On Saturday, April 26, 2025, Fontana station deputies were assigned to a special event for a new year’s celebration at a local monastery. Several groups of people began fighting leading to a large disturbance involving hundreds of people. While the deputies attempted to detain one subject, another attempted to punch one of the deputies, and the large group became violent towards the deputies.

Additional deputies from the Fontana and Rancho Cucamonga Stations, Sheriff’s Aviation, officers from the Fontana and Rialto Police Departments, and the California Highway Patrol, responded to the location. An unlawful assembly was declared, and the disturbance was dispersed. Several families reported missing children, but, once order was restored, all were located and reunited with their families.

Through investigation, deputies determined there were a group of simultaneous fights, in addition to that described above, which led to the disturbance. An adult male was kicked several times during the disturbance and other aggressors knocked over strollers with children inside. The adult male subject suffered minor injuries and was evaluated by medical personnel. No other injuries to law enforcement, children, or the public were reported.
