Borough Council Meeting, Tuesdays 5/6 and 5/20
The Mayor and Council hold their regularly scheduled meetings pursuant to the provisions of the New Jersey Open Public Meetings Act, N.J.S.A. 10:4-8(b). Meetings are held in person at Borough Hall, 221 South 5th Avenue, Highland Park, NJ at 7:00 pm. As a convenience, the Borough provides the public the option to attend meetings remotely through Zoom. The meeting agenda and support materials are posted in Borough Hall and on the Borough website at least 48 hours before the scheduled meeting.
Highland Park 5K/Spring Street Fair & Earth Day Fest, Sunday 5/4

Park Partners Grant Program, Deadline for application, Tuesday 5/13
If you’d like to make a difference in our town, submit your Park Partners grant application! The program awards funds of up to $2,000 each for five community-based projects in the following categories – Environment; Arts; Culture & Diversity; Safety, Universal Access, or Health & Wellness; and Highland Park High School student(s)/class/club projects.
Stroke & Sepsis Education Lecture: What You Need to Know, Wednesday, 5/14
Join Hackensack Meridian Health stroke and sepsis coordinators to learn the signs, symptoms, risk factors of a stroke, why it’s important to B.E.F.A.S.T. in response to a stroke and how you can prevent sepsis. Please sign up by calling 732-819-0052. Event will be held at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue, from 1:30 to 2:30 pm.
Bike Rodeo, Thursday 5/15
Grab your bike and helmet and come down to the Bartle Elementary School parking lot, 435 Mansfield Street from 4:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. for some fun activities, safety checks and lessons on the rules of the road. Organized by the Safe Walking & Cycling Committee, the Highland Park Police Department, and Keep Middlesex Moving.
Porchfest, Sunday 5/18
Highland Park Porchfest is back by popular demand with 80+ live performers on porches throughout Highland Park from 12:00 – 6:00 pm Rain or shine.
Memorial Day Parade, Monday, 5/26

Learn and Create Series, Tuesday, 5/27
The Highland Park Arts Commission invites you to participate in: Simple & Stylish: Beginner Jewelry Making course from 7:00 – 8:00 pm at the Highland Park Library, 31 North Fifth Avenue. Create your own beautiful beaded earrings or bracelet in this fun, beginner friendly jewelry workshop!
Gas Leaf Blower Survey
The Borough has a Gas Leaf Blower (GLB) Task Force composed of members from the Borough Council, the Board of Health, Sustainable Highland Park and the Environmental Commission. The GLB Task Force is exploring community concerns or issues related to gas powered leaf blowers, like the State Legislature and other communities throughout New Jersey are doing. They are all interested in healthier, cleaner and quieter landscaping options. The GLB Task Force held one public information session at the Library and is planning additional public meetings. The Task Force encourages residents to fill out this survey to provide feedback on this issue. For more information on this initiative, please contact [email protected]

Free Groceries from H.P. Gives a Hoot, Tuesdays 5/6, 5/13, 5/20, 5/27 and Wednesdays 5/7, 5/14, 5/21, 5/28
Highland Park Gives a Hoot offers free groceries to Highland Park families in need of support. Distributions are every Tuesday & Wednesday from 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the Zone 6 Teen Center, 600 Benner Street.
Food Pantry Distribution, Thursdays 5/8 & 5/22 & Saturdays 5/10 & 5/24
The Highland Park Food Pantry distribution will take place at the Highland Park Community Center, 220 South 6th Avenue on the second and fourth Thursdays from 9:00 – 10:45 am and 6:00 – 7:00 pm and on the second and fourth Saturdays following Thursdays from 9:30 – 10:30 am. Highland Park Recreation Programs
Highland Park Recreation offers a variety of adult, youth and summer programs. Families that qualify for free and reduced lunch are eligible for a 60% discount on all programs offered by the Borough.
Farmers Market
The Highland Park Farmers Market is, bringing fresh, local, homemade products from farmers and vendors across New Jersey. The market is open every Friday through December 12; from 11 AM to 4 PM in February, March, November, and December; and until 5 PM from April through October. Shop for farm-fresh produce, baked goods, artisanal products, and more while supporting local businesses and enjoying a vibrant community atmosphere.

Highland Park will hold fireworks to celebrate Independence Day on Thursday, July 3rd this year.
