SUBJECT: Felony Assault Suspect Arrested
LOCATION: 950 Main Street, Redwood City
DATE/TIME: April 30, 2025, Approximately 10:30 P.M.
On April 30, 2025, at approximately 10:30 P.M., Redwood City Police Officers responded to several 911 calls reporting an assault at the apartment complex located at 950 Main Street. Upon arrival, officers located a victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to the torso. A second victim was found with a laceration to the arm.
The suspect was located at the scene and detained without incident. A preliminary investigation has revealed that the assault primarily involved two brothers, and a third family member sustained injuries while attempting to intervene.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The primary victim remains in critical condition. The second victim was treated for a superficial wound.
The suspect has been identified as Jonathan Manuel Riveracastro, a 30-year-old resident of Redwood City. He was arrested and booked into the San Mateo County Maguire Correctional Facility on a charge of Penal Code 245(a)(1) — Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The cause of the incident remains under investigation. At this time, it appears to be an isolated incident confined to a single apartment unit involving family members.
