| On February 27, 2025, Thousand Oaks Patrol Services deputies received a report of vandalism in the quad at Newbury Park High School. The suspect vandalized property by writing hate speech and hate symbol graffiti. After learning about the incident, the East County Major Crimes Unit immediately launched an investigation into the matter. Through an extensive investigation, detectives identified two male juvenile suspects who were involved in the incident. On May 1, 2025, detectives served residential search warrants at the suspect’s residence in the cites of Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley. Evidence was located and collected during the service of the search warrants. Both juveniles were cited and released to their parents for the following felony charges: 594(b)(1) PC / Vandalism, 11411(c) PC / Hate Symbol, and 422.6 (a) PC / Hate Crime. The city of Thousand Oaks is an extremely safe community. However, this sense of safety is occasionally exploited by the criminal element. The Thousand Oaks Police Department would like to remind citizens to remain vigilant and report suspicious people and vehicles by promptly calling 911 or our non-emergency line of (805) 654-9511. If you see something, say something. The East County Investigations Bureau continues to combat crimes through keeping the community informed of current crime trends while aggressively pursuing and arresting those that choose to do us harm. |
