Suspect Arrested for Attempted Robbery at Petaluma Gas Station

On April 30, 2025, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Petaluma Police officers responded to a reported attempted robbery at the 76 Gas Station located at 101 N. McDowell Blvd. The reporting party, an employee, stated that a female suspect entered the store, requested a bag, and then demanded cash, claiming to be with the federal government. No weapon was seen, and no money was taken. The employee declined to provide cash, and the suspect said she would return. This caused the employee to fear that the suspect might return with accomplices.

Officers quickly canvassed the area and located a suspect matching the description provided. The gas station employee positively identified the suspect during an in-field lineup. The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Holly Newton, was arrested without incident.

Newton was booked into the Sonoma County Main Adult Detention Facility on charges of attempted robbery (664/211 PC) and felony and misdemeanor violations of her pretrial release terms (1203.2(a) PC).
