Wilmington Police arrest man in connection with home invasion:

Wilmington Police have arrested a man in connection with a home invasion following an investigation.

On April 1, police received a complaint of a home invasion that occurred on March 31, at approximately 10:30 p.m., in the 800 block of North Spruce Street. The victim advised, an unknown male who identified himself as a police officer forced entry to their residence and removed several items. The case was assigned to Detective Justin Wilkers of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Through the course of his investigation, Detective Wilkers identified 40-year-old George Lacey as a suspect. On April 29, members of the Uniformed Services Division located Lacey in the area of East 19th and North Pine Streets, where he was taken into custody without incident.

Lacey has been charged with the following offenses:

  • Burglary (First Degree)
  • Criminal Impersonation of a Police Officer
  • Assault (Second Degree)
  • Aggravated Menacing
  • Theft Under $1,500
He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and was committed to the Howard R. Young Correctional Institution on $29,000 cash-only bail.
