Hackworth Charged with Meth Possession
Detective Matt Smith with the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office Community Impact Team charged 59-year-old James Michael Hackworth of Marion with felony Possession of Methamphetamine. He was issued a secured bond of $7,000.
On Friday, April 25. Det. Smith assisted North Carolina State Highway Patrol with a traffic stop in West Marion. Hackworth was a passenger in the vehicle.
A search of his person turned up syringes along with a suspected amount of methamphetamine.
Hackworth was placed under arrest and transported to the McDowell County Detention Center.
