DETAILS: On May 3rd, 2025, at 1:02am, Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of East Amarillo Boulevard on a body found lying in the roadway. Officers discovered a 73-year-old male lying on the roadway with signs of being struck by a vehicle. The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where he died as result of the injuries sustained in the crash. It was later discovered that a dark colored SUV style vehicle had been traveling westbound on Amarillo Boulevard, struck the pedestrian and then left the scene without stopping or rendering aid. Potter County Justice of the Peace, Gary Jackson was contacted and ordered an autopsy. The incident is being investigated by the Traffic Investigation Squad of the Amarillo Police Dept. At the time of this release, family of the victim has not been located or notified.
