Yucca Valley Man Arrested for Warrants and Drug Possession with Prior Convictions

LOCATION: Park Boulevard and El Reposo Circle, Joshua Tree, CA, 92252
SUSPECT(S): Ryan Edward Warmoth, 39-years-old, resident of Yucca Valley.
VICTIM(S): State of California
SUMMARY: On November 5, 2024, California voters passed Proposition 36 titled “The Homelessness, Drug Addiction and Theft Reduction Act.” The proposition took effect on December 18, 2024, and reforms multiple laws from Proposition 47, which have been responsible for increasing homelessness, drug addiction and theft. Proposition 36 includes several new Penal and Health and Safety Codes that deputies will be able to apply during arrests when appropriate. These new charges can carry enhanced sentencing, as well as prevent offenders from being cite released prior to their court appearance. The following is an arrest where Proposition 36 is applied:
On Sunday, May 4, 2025, at approximately 10:52 a.m., Deputy Omar Zavala observed Ryan Warmoth walking near the intersection of Park Boulevard and El Reposo Circle in Joshua Tree. Recognizing Warmoth from prior contacts and being aware of an active felony warrant, Zavala contacted Warmoth. A records check confirmed Warmoth had multiple active warrants, including the felony warrant.
Warmoth was placed under arrest without incident. During a search incident to arrest, a clear plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine was located on Warmoth’s person. Warmoth was transported and booked into the Morongo Basin Jail for HS 11395(b)(1) – Possession of a controlled substance with two prior convictions and his outstanding warrants.
