Deputies Arrest a Twentynine Palms Man for Attempted Murder after He Fired a Gun at a Group of People on May 1st

SUMMARY: On Thursday, May 1, 2025, at approximately 9:41 a.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station, officers from the California Highway Patrol Morongo Basin Station, and emergency medical personnel from the San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to the Adobe Villas apartments following a report of a shooting.
Responding personnel determined no injuries or property damage occurred. Shandar Diamond Washington, a resident of the apartment complex, was identified as the suspect who discharged a firearm at a group of three individuals. Washington fled on foot before deputies arrived, and despite an extensive area search, deputies were unable to locate him. Sheriff’s detectives later obtained a warrant for his arrest.
On Friday, May 2, 2025, Washington was located near the intersection of Cactus Drive and Adobe Road, in the city of Twentynine Palms, and deputies took him into custody without incident. He was booked at the Morongo Basin Jail and later transferred to the West Valley Detention Center, where he remains in custody in lieu of $200,000 bail.
