INCIDENT: PC 245(a)(2) – Assault with a Firearm
LOCATION: 70400 Block of Cove View Road, Twentynine Palms, CA
SUSPECT(S): Andrew Gaskill, 46-years-old, resident of Twentynine Palms.
VICTIM(S): Daniel Bass, Diego Rangel, and Zakkory Arwick
SUMMARY: On Monday, May 5, 2025, at approximately 4:36 p.m., deputies from the Morongo Basin Sheriff’s Station responded to a report of shots fired near Indian Trail and Meldora Avenue in Twentynine Palms.
Three victims reported that while driving a gray Dodge Ram and attempting to turn around on Cove View Road after encountering private property signs, their vehicle was struck by gunfire. A bullet penetrated the passenger-side door and embedded in the front seat. The victims fled the area and were able to identify the suspect's residence with the assistance of aerial photographs provided by Sheriff’s Aviation.
Deputies located the residence and ultimately detained the suspect, who was later identified as Andrew Gaskill. A search warrant was served at the property, and deputies recovered multiple firearms, including the rifle believed to have been used in the shooting, a shotgun, a handgun, and an AR-style rifle.
Gaskill was arrested and booked at the Morongo Basin Jail for PC 245(a)(2) – Assault with a Firearm.
