Please see the below information regarding annual hydrant flushing in water distict No.4. This district includes the downtown area of Armonk.

Dear Water District No. 4 Customer:

Please be advised that in an ongoing effort to maintain your water quality we will be flushing the distribution system. Our efforts will eliminate potential periodic turbid water conditions, and improve water quality.

On Thursday evening May 8th, between the hours of 9 pm and 2am, we will be flushing fire hydrants within the distribution system of Water District No.4.

Advantages of Distribution System Flushing:
• Flushing removes accumulated sediment.
• Improves water quality.
• Decreases chlorine demand.
• Operating hydrants provides the department with a way of determining if there is additional field maintenance required.
• Hydrant flow records are a key in providing information necessary for the District’s ISO fire rating.

This flushing process may cause you to experience lower pressure and discolored water. It is advised to let your cold water run for a few minutes in the morning to clear what may be in your service line. Residents are urged to check their water for clarity prior to doing any laundry, as the discolored water will stain clothing. Although the water may be discolored, please be assured that your water remains safe.
