Newark Police Chief Morris and Sergeant Maldonado Both Inducted into the National Honor Society 
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., announces that Chief of Police Sharonda Morris and Major Crimes Sergeant Michael Maldonado have been inducted by Fairleigh Dickinson University into Pi Alpha Alpha, the national honor society for public affairs and administration.
“On behalf of the entire Newark Department of Public Safety, I congratulate Chief Morris and Sergeant Maldonado for this recognition of their outstanding achievements,” Director Miranda said. “The Newark Police Division is enhanced by the educational pursuits of its leaders and members, which broadens the diversity of our service to the people of Newark.”
Chief Morris and Sergeant Maldonado are both studying for a Master of Public Administration (MPA) at Fairleigh Dickinson University. They were inducted during a ceremony at the university on April 3, 2025.
Pi Alpha Alpha recognizes outstanding academic achievement and leadership among students pursuing careers in public service.
