Sonora Police Department Animal Control Policy Update Regarding Varmint Trap Services
Sonora, Texas — May 7, 2025
The Sonora Police Department announces an important update regarding Animal Control services. After careful consideration and a thorough review of current city ordinances, Animal Control will no longer be servicing privately owned varmint traps on private property, effective immediately and until further notice.
This decision reflects the department’s commitment to ensuring that services align with city policies and available resources.
Citizens still have the option to request varmint trap services through the City of Sonora. Traps may be ordered and set by Animal Control upon request. These services may be subject to applicable fees.
