INCIDENT: PC 664/484g Attempt Theft by Fraud, PC 182(a) Conspiracy, and PC 368(a) Elder Abuse
LOCATION: 25000 Block of Via Oro, Loma Linda
SUSPECT(S): Tyhran Shvets, 20-year-old Male, Ukranian National
VICTIM(S): Confidential
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, an unknown suspect called an elderly victim and impersonated the Inspector General. The vicitm was told she needed to withdraw $30,000 to avoid being arrested for an active arrest warrant, and would be contacted on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, with further instructions. In fear of being arrested, the victim withdrew $30,000 from her bank account. She later realized the phone call was a scam and reported it to deputies assigned to Loma Linda.
Detectives assigned to Central Station conducted a follow-up investigation related to the scam.
On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, Tyhran Shvets, a 20-year-old Ukrainian national, was arrested when he attempted to collect the $30,000. During the investigation, it was learned he picked up money from other elderly female victims.
Tyhran Shvets was arrested for attempted theft by false pretenses, conspiracy, elder abuse, and was booked at Central Detention Center.
