Downtown construction updates & upcoming community events announced
Light Rail service disruption Saturday
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection is continuing construction on the Rebuild by Design project to mitigate storm surge flooding in Hoboken, Jersey City, and Weehawken. To accommodate their construction, there will be a double track outage on Saturday, May 10, for the Hudson-Bergen Light Rail between Second Street and Pavonia/Newport, and between Second Street and Hoboken Terminal from 8 am to 8 pm.
According to the NJDEP, HBLR will provide shuttles from Second Street to Hoboken Terminal and from Second Street to Pavonia/ Newport.

Overnight construction at Hoboken Terminal
Please be advised that overnight paving work will take place at the Hoboken Terminal as part of the Hoboken Connect Project, which will revitalize the area and create a new bus terminal, outdoor plaza at Warrington Plaza, and more. The developer, LCOR, has been granted a noise waiver by the City Council to conduct overnight work on Monday, May 12 and Tuesday, May 13.
From approximately 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. the contractor will perform milling and paving operations and relocate jersey barriers in front of the NJ Transit Bus Canopy at 23 Hudson Pl.
These overnight hours are necessary to avoid disruption to bus and pedestrian traffic during peak commuting times.

Pick up your urban gardening kit
Do you want to start an urban garden? Apply for a free urban gardening kit through the H2Oboken Project, a student-run initiative funded by the 2024 Youth Climate Action Fund. The project aims to curb flooding on Hoboken streets as well as expand native greenery through the use of small urban gardening kits that are designed to collect excess rainwater, keeping it from reaching the streets and causing damage.
All Hoboken residents can sign up for free to receive kits with seeds and soil included. Click Here to apply now! Questions or concerns regarding the project can be sent to [email protected].
