Correctional Officer Arrested for misconduct. SHERIFF LEVON ALLEN
Yesterday, I ordered the immediate termination and arrest of one of our own at the Clayton County Sheriff's Office.
On May 7, 2025, Correctional Officer Darius Roberts was involved in a serious incident involving an attack on an inmate at the Clayton County Jail. The officer and inmate had a verbal dispute, which resulted in the officer throwing the first punch, striking the inmate several times before slamming him to the ground and ultimately tasing him. Officers and other staff members had to physically remove the officer from the inmate.
Officer Roberts has been charged with battery, simple assault, and violation of oath of office.
As a Deputy Sheriff, Correctional Officer, or Sheriff's employee, inmates or citizens may try to bait you, but you are expected to rise above such challenges—whether they involve name-calling, slurs, or anything that may hurt your feelings.
Just as I will charge an inmate for fighting another inmate or for fighting an officer, if I find out an officer has attacked an inmate, I will charge them as well.
Darius Roberts, was hired on with the Sheriff’s Office August 17, 2024, and ultimately terminated May 7, 2025.
