UPDATE: Two Arrested in Connection with Missing Montrose Minor Case
On Friday, May 2, 2025, a minor in the unincorporated area of Montrose went missing prompting widespread concern by his family, the community, and the Sheriff’s Department. A critical missing juvenile report was taken and deputies initiated immediate action to try and locate the minor. Approximately 72 hours later, on Monday, May 5, 2025, the minor was located safely and reunited with his family.
The efforts undertaken to find the minor included canvassing the community, investigative interviews, wireless emergency alerts, and the utilization of technology. Additionally, the use of scent dogs and the cooperation of business entities were helpful in the investigative efforts.
After the minor returned home, the handling detective continued to follow up on information and examine the circumstances surrounding the minor’s disappearance. Today, as a result of a thorough and comprehensive investigation the Crescenta Valley Station Detective Bureau arrested two adults related to the minor’s disappearance.
Brandon Holguin, 25, and Kayleigh Kaplan, 23, from Thousand Oaks, were arrested by the Crescenta Valley Station Detective Bureau and booked at the Lost Hills Station for child abduction (278 PC), child endangerment (273(a) PC), human trafficking (236.1 PC), contributing to the delinquency of a minor (272 PC), identity theft (530.5(a) PC), drug sales involving minors (11353.1(a) HS), and use of a minor in cannabis crimes (11361 HS). They will be arraigned at Pasadena court on Tuesday, May 13.
