SMPD Investigates fatal stabbing 
On 5/09/2025 at approximately 1048 hours, SMPD communications received a call regarding a possible stabbing that occurred in the 1700 block of Rio Vista. Officers located a male suspect and female, who suffered from multiple injuries, on scene. The male, Eduardo De Guzman Torres (DOB: 4/26/1962), was taken into custody without incident. The female, a 44-year-old resident of Santa Maria, was transported to Marian Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing.
