Attempted Robbery and Possession of a Controlled Substance
On May 10, 2025, at approximately midnight, Petaluma Police responded to a report of a suspicious circumstance in the 2000 block of Gilrix Street. The incident involved a male juvenile suspect, a 16-year-old Santa Rosa resident, chasing the victim after attempting to rob them.
The victim and a friend were walking home when they encountered the juvenile suspect, who was walking in the opposite direction and displaying erratic behavior. After a brief verbal exchange, the juvenile suspect approached the victim and demanded, “Give me everything you got.” No weapon was seen, and no money was taken. Fearing for their safety, the victim and his friend fled on foot, with the juvenile suspect pursuing them.
Officers quickly canvassed the area and located a suspect matching the juvenile’s description, hiding underneath a vehicle near the crime scene. An in-field show-up was conducted, and the victim positively identified the juvenile suspect as the person who had chased them.
The juvenile suspect was arrested for attempted robbery (Penal Code 664/211). During a search of the juvenile suspect, officers discovered a medical bottle that was not prescribed to the suspect containing multiple pills identified as Alprazolam (commonly known as Xanax), a controlled substance, which led to an additional charge of possession of a controlled substance (Health & Safety Code 11350(A).
The juvenile suspect was also on active Sonoma County Juvenile Probation. He was later booked into Sonoma County Juvenile Hall.
