Elderly Man Found Deceased Inside Home after Fire was Extinguished

LOCATION: 2800 block of N. State Street, Muscoy
VICTIM(S): Salvador Esparza, 92-years-old, Resident of Muscoy
SUMMARY: On Saturday, May 10, 2025, deputies from the Central Station responded to a residence on N. State Street for a building on fire. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a residence on the back of the property fully engulfed in flames. Fire personnel responded and put out the fire. After the fire was extinguished, Salvador Esparza was discovered deceased inside of the residence.
The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department Bomb/Arson Division responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing, and additional information will be released when available.
