Wilmington Police arrest two men in connection to April 28 shooting incident:
Wilmington Police have arrested two men in connection to an April 28 shooting incident following an investigation.
On April 28, at approximately 1:34 p.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division responded to the 700 block of East 10th Street, in reference to a shooting incident. Police located a 39-year-old male gunshot victim, who arrived to the hospital in critical condition.
The case was assigned to Detective Thomas Rittenhouse of the Criminal Investigations Division. Through the course of his investigation, Detective Rittenhouse identified 19-year-old Josiah Grimes as a suspect, and obtained warrants for his arrest. Detective Rittenhouse also identified the 39-year-old victim – Omar Brown as a suspect in this incident, and obtained warrants for his arrest.
On May 5, Brown was taken into custody without incident. On May 8, members of the Uniformed Services Division located Grimes in the 1100 block of Lombard Street, and took him into custody without incident.
Brown has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Reckless Endangering (First Degree)
- Tampering with Physical Evidence
- Providing a False Statement to Law Enforcement
Grimes has been charged with the following offenses:
- Assault (First Degree)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
- Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Person Prohibited – Two Counts
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon
- Reckless Endangering (First Degree)
- Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
- Criminal Mischief Under $1,000
