Wilmington Police arrest woman in connection to aggravated menacing incident:
Wilmington Police have arrested a woman in connection to an aggravated menacing incident.
On May 8, at approximately 8:45 p.m., police and members of the Department of Justice were in the 2100 block of North Church Street, in reference to an on-going investigation into a fatal shooting incident in the 800 block of East 22nd Street. At this time, police were approached by a disorderly female, who began to make threats towards officers while stating that she was armed with a firearm. A short time later, the woman displayed a firearm and pointed it in the direction of several police officers and members of the Department of Justice. Police issued verbal commands to the woman, who ultimately complied and dropped the firearm. Police took 37-year-old Nakia Jones into custody without further incident, and recovered two loaded 9mm handguns.
Jones has been charged with the following offenses:
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon – Two Counts
- Aggravated Menacing – Eight Counts
- Offensive Touching of a Law Enforcement Officer – Two Counts
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Three Counts
- Resisting Arrest
- Criminal Mischief Under $1,000
