Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., requests the public’s help identifying the below-pictured male suspect in connection with a business burglary that occurred on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
Police responded to Food Plaza Supermarket at 84 Bloomfield Avenue on a burglary call. The business owner reported that at approximately 3:30 a.m., the suspect entered the store through a hole in the roof above the refrigerators. The suspect removed cash from the cash register at the front of the store before using a crowbar to enter an office in the back of the store. Once inside the office, the suspect broke into the store’s safe and removed $40,000.00 in cash before fleeing through the hole in the roof.
Detectives investigating this incident describe the suspect as 5’7” tall with a thin build. He was wearing a black face mask, a hooded sweatshirt, light-colored sweatpants, and sneakers. He also had a flashlight mounted on his forehead by a headband.
