The following is a synopsis of crimes reported from May 4, 2025 – May 10, 2025.
 
May 4, 2025

• Grand Theft (Parts):  

1400 Block of Huntington Drive. On May 4, 2025, the suspect stole four tires and rims from the parked vehicle at home. No video footage. No arrests were made. Tem DB is following up.    
 
May 5, 2025

• Grand Theft (Unlocked Vehicle):  

2200 Block of Huntington Drive "Smoke Shop." On May 5, 2025, the suspect ransacked a vehicle and stole an iPhone and $60.00. Good cell phone footage. No arrest was made. Tem DB is following up.
 
May 6, 2025

• Grand Theft (GTA):

2300 Block of Central Avenue "Element 16 Technology.” Between 3:40 PM on May 3, 2025, and 11 PM on May 4, 2025, three suspects stole a truck trailer and generator. Good video footage. No arrest was made. Tem DB is following up. The incident was reported on May 6, 2025.

May 10, 2025

• Burglary (Residential):

2500 Block of Markwood Street. On May 10, 2025, the suspect ransacked the home and took $30,000 in cash and $15,000 in jewelry. Home cameras were damaged. However, good video footage showed a vehicle parked at the location and captured suspect footage. No arrests were made. Tem DB is following up. 
   
The following information can help prevent a home burglary before it happens:
 
Secure Entrances

• Install deadbolt locks on all external doors, including sliding glass doors, and reinforce windows with dowels or pins.
• Ensure gates and shed doors are locked.
• Provide sufficient exterior lighting and consider the use of motion-activated lights.
• Regularly trim trees and shrubs to eliminate potential hiding spots for intruders.
• Always keep your garage door closed and secured.

 
Create an Occupied Appearance

• Utilize timers for lights to mimic activity in your absence. Prevent the accumulation of deliveries by arranging for mail and packages to be held or picked up while you are away.
• Refrain from leaving notes on your door indicating your absence, as advised by the City of Liberty, Missouri.
• Exercise caution when sharing vacation photos or updates on social media, as Safer Cerritos recommends.

 
Safeguard Valuables

• Do not display valuable items in clear view through windows. Store valuables securely in a safe or bank deposit box.
• Consider investing in a home security system for continuous monitoring.

 
Engage with the Community

• Participate in your local neighborhood watch program to enhance community vigilance and cooperation.
• Collaborate with neighbors to report any suspicious activities.
