Police Seek Public’s Help Locating Man Wanted for Questioning in Carjacking
Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda Sr., seeks the public’s help in locating Shaun Motayne, who is wanted for questioning about a carjacking on April 7, 2025.
The victim, an Uber Eats worker, parked his silver 2021 4-door Outback Subaru to make a delivery in the 200 block of Broome Street. When he exited his vehicle, leaving a passenger in the backseat, a group of Black males brandishing a firearm approached him and demanded that he empty his pockets.
The men, wearing black sweats and ski masks, pulled the passenger from the victim’s car, taking his iPhone and wallet containing $300. The suspects got into the victim’s vehicle and drove away northbound on Broome Street.
Director Miranda urges anyone with information on Montayne’s whereabouts to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are confidential and could result in a reward.
