Meridian Named One of the Safest Cities in Idaho for 2025
MERIDIAN – The City of Meridian has been ranked the 5th Safest City in Idaho in the 2025 Safest Cities Report published by SafeWise. This recognition highlights the continued efforts of Meridian’s leadership, first responders, and community in prioritizing public safety and fostering a secure environment for residents.
“Your city earned this recognition based on the latest FBI crime data, and it’s clear that your leadership, first responders, and residents are making a real difference,” said Bruna Martins, Public Relations Specialist at SafeWise. “At a time when safety is top of mind for many Americans, Meridian is standing out as a place where people feel protected, neighbors look out for each other, and community investments in safety are paying off.”
With a population of over 135,000, Meridian continues to demonstrate an exceptional track record for minimizing per capita crime. The city has shown steady improvement in crime rates over the past three years:
• Violent Crime Rate (per 1,000 residents): 1.5 (2025), 1.3 (2024), 1.7 (2023)
• Property Crime Rate (per 1,000 residents): 5.0 (2025), 6.4 (2024), 7.3 (2023)
“We’re proud to see Meridian named as one of Idaho’s safest cities. The recognition is a testament to the men and women of the Meridian Police Department,” said Meridian Mayor Robert Simison. “Public safety is a top priority for the community as we work to ensure Meridian stays a safe place to live, work, and raise a family.”
