Police Seek Help Locating Missing 15-Year-Old Newark Runaway

Newark Public Safety Director Emanuel Miranda, Sr., seeks the public’s help in locating Andrea Orellana, 15, of Newark, who was reported missing on Monday, May 12, 2025.

Andrea was last seen at 8 a.m., when she was dropped off at her high school. The principal reported that Andrea left school along with friends, but returned at the end of the day. Upon becoming aware of her friends’ family members near the school, Andrea and her friends fled to Newark Penn Station. When her friends’ family members later arrived to pick them up, Andrea refused to go with them. Andrea’s family has not been able to reach her, nor have they heard from her.

Detectives investigating this incident describe Andrea as 5-ft. tall and 125 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt over a blue school shirt, black sweatpants, and white sneakers. Andrea is also described as a frequent runaway. Her physical and mental conditions are reportedly good.

Director Miranda urges anyone with information about the whereabouts of Andrea Orellana to call the Police Division’s 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477). All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential and could result in a reward.
