The City of Newark will host its annual State of the City Address on Friday, May 23, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM in front of City Hall. This special event will highlight Newark’s recent accomplishments, current projects, and exciting plans for the future.
 
To accommodate the event, Newark Boulevard will be closed in both directions between Thornton Avenue and Civic Terrace Avenue from approximately 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Friday May 23, 2025.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area or follow detour signs to navigate around the closure safely. Commercial trucks wanting to use Newark Boulevard are advised to use Central Avenue or Thornton Avenue as alternate routes.
