Wilmington Police have arrested a man on drug charges.
On May 13, at approximately 10:30 a.m., members of the Uniformed Services Division attempted to conduct a vehicle stop in the 1000 block of North Walnut Street, at which time the vehicle disregarded and fled the area. A short time later, the vehicle was located in the area of East 30th Street and Northeast Boulevard. Police took 23-year-old Amir McCants into custody without further incident, and recovered 181 grams of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
McCants has been charged with the following offenses in addition to traffic violations:
- Possession of a Controlled Substance with the Intent to Deliver
- Possession of a Controlled Substance in Tier 1 Quantity
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal
He was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was released after posting $5,000 secured bail.
