Advisory

Reminder: Hoboken Spring Arts & Music Festival is Sunday; Plan for road closures & parking restrictions; Gridlock advisory issued

The 2025 Hoboken Spring Arts and Music Festival is this Sunday, May 18, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The festival will take place on Washington Street between Observer Highway and Seventh Street.

Over 300 artists, vendors, and more will be featured, along with activities for children. There will also be two stages of live musical performances located on Washington Street between Newark Street and Observer Highway and on Washington Street between Sixth Street and Seventh Street. Internationally renowned artist Brenda K. Starr will headline, taking the Observer Highway stage at 4:30 p.m.

The Office of Emergency Management has placed Temporary No Parking signs in and around the festival area. Please adhere to all no parking signs. Many are in place for public safety purposes.

The following road closures will begin at 5 a.m.:

  • Washington Street will be closed in both directions between Observer Highway and Eighth Street
  • All east/west bound streets between Newark Street and Seventh Street will be closed from Bloomfield Street to Hudson Street.

New Jersey Transit buses will detour onto Hudson and Bloomfield Streets. Roads will reopen after clean-up is complete, which is anticipated to be at approximately 8 p.m.

Please be advised the City of Hoboken has issued a gridlock advisory from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday due to a combination of factors, including anticipated festival related traffic, the ongoing closure of Jersey Avenue, and the NJ Transit engineers strike. Anyone joining for the festival is strongly encouraged to take available mass transit, including the PATH, Citi Bike, NJ Transit bus, and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail where possible, as HBLR construction in Weehawken is not anticipated to impact service to and from Hoboken.

If those options are unavailable to you, and walking is not possible, rideshare services are recommended. A rideshare drop-off zone will be located on the west side of Washington Street from Eighth to Ninth Street. As a reminder, Sinatra Summer Streets is cancelled this Sunday to ease the anticipated congestion.

“I invite everyone to come out and enjoy one of Hoboken’s most beloved traditions this Sunday,” said Mayor Ravi S. Bhalla. “As we celebrate, I encourage those who can, to leave the car at home, make necessary transportation arrangements ahead of time, and perhaps pack a little extra patience, so we can all enjoy another safe, fun, and memorable festival.”
