* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Northern Halifax County in central North Carolina...

* Until 700 PM EDT.

* At 607 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located near Littleton, or 10 miles northeast of Warrenton, moving east at 65 mph. HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees.

* Locations impacted include... Roanoke Rapids, Halifax, Littleton, Weldon, South Weldon, Airlie, Rosemary, Tillery, Roanoke Rapids Lake, and Lake Gaston.

* AFFECTED AREAS: HALIFAX, NC

Instructions:

Straight line winds can blow down trees, power lines, and damage mobile homes and other buildings. Seek shelter in a sturdy structure until the storm has passed. Stay away from windows as flying debris generated by damaging winds can be deadly. If on or near area lakes, get away from the water and move indoors or inside a vehicle. Move to safe shelter now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
