The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, MAY 12, 2025:
9:20 AM Officer Lomeli conducted a welfare check on Newpark Mall Rd. A 41-year-old female was located with an outstanding warrant and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
9:21 AM Vehicle Abatement Officer (VBO) Heckman responded to a parking complaint near Cedar Blvd & Lafayette Ave. A stolen vehicle was located and subsequently recovered.
1:17 PM CSO Lau investigated the theft of wheels from a vehicle near Central Ave & Willow St.
7:03 PM Officer Cervantes investigated a package theft near Edgewater Dr & Cedar Blvd.
10:22 PM Officer Norvell responded to a vehicle burglary reported on Newpark Mall Rd. Loss included electronics.
TUESDAY, MAY 13, 2025:
2:00 PM CSO Lau responded to a package theft reported near Cedar Blvd & Pandorea Terr.
4:52 PM Officer Quinonez responded to an attempted residential burglary on Joaquin Murieta Ave.
6:39 PM Officer Dale was dispatched to a vehicle burglary on Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd. The door lock was forced open, and the vehicle was ransacked. No known loss.
6:42 PM Officer Cervantes investigated a vehicle theft from the area of Thornton Ave & Olive St.
8:56 PM Officer Cervantes investigated a vehicle burglary that occurred near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd. The door lock was observed to be forced open. Loss included a wallet.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 14, 2025:
11:04 AM Officer Berlanga initiated a traffic stop on Cedar Blvd & Cedar Ct for a vehicle with expired registration. A 53-year-old male was cited for driving with a suspended license.
2:29 PM CSO Lau responded to a commercial burglary that occurred near Jarvis Ave & Overlake Pl.
2:55 PM Officer Kim conducted a traffic stop near Jarvis Ave & Dumbarton Ct. A 42-year-old male was booked into Santa Rita Jail for an outstanding warrant.
9:53 PM Officer Quinonez investigated a license plate theft that occurred on Joaquin Murieta Ave.
THURSDAY, MAY 15, 2025:
11:04 AM Officer Berlanga initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired registration near Mowry Ave & Alpenrose Ct. A 39-year-old female was arrested for driving without a license and failure to provide identification. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
12:35 PM CSO Lau recovered a stolen vehicle parked near Cedar & Lido Boulevards.
FRIDAY, MAY 16, 2025:
1:38 AM Officer Quinonez responded to an active vehicle burglary reported near Magnolia St & Thornton Ave. A 46-year-old male was arrested for outstanding warrants. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
8:20 AM Officer Berlanga responded to a vandalism reported in a parking lot near Newark Blvd & Jarvis Ave. A 30-year-old male on active probation was located on scene. He was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for vandalism and violation of probation terms.
9:34 AM Officer Lara investigated a window smash commercial burglary that occurred near Thornton Ave & Newark Blvd. There was no reported loss.
10:34 AM CSO Mora transported a 23-year-old male with an outstanding warrant to Santa Rita Jail.
5:36 PM Officer Lara was dispatched to a domestic disturbance near Cherry St & Thornton Ave. A 34-year-old male was arrested for spousal battery and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
SATURDAY, MAY 17, 2025:
6:00 AM Officer Diaz-Perez arrested a 27-year-old male with an outstanding warrant near Musick Ave & Newark Blvd. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
6:45 AM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a stolen vehicle reported near Cherry St & Smith Ave.
9:49 AM Officer Jackman investigated the theft of wheels from a vehicle on Mowry School Rd.
10:11 AM Officer Taylor investigated a vehicle theft that occurred on Newpark Mall Rd, then responded to a vehicle burglary that had occurred nearby. Loss of multiple tools were reported.
12:32 PM Officer Jackman investigated an aggravated assault that occurred near Lake Blvd & Ramsgate Dr and.
8:35 PM Officer Medina responded to a report of a person down near Thornton Ave and Cedar Blvd. A 41-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for public intoxication.
SUNDAY, MAY 18, 2025:
4:29 AM Officer Shaffer was dispatched to a hit and run collision that occurred near Cherry St & Mayhews Landing Road. The vehicle involved was determined to be an unreported stolen vehicle.
9:38 AM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a vehicle theft that occurred near Musick Ave & Ruschin Dr.
12:20 PM Officer Taylor conducted a traffic stop on Thornton Ave & Elm St for a vehicle failing to follow lane usage. A 34-year-old female was cited for an outstanding warrant.
4:42 PM Officer Jackman responded to the area of Sycamore St & Thornton Ave for an attempted vehicle theft. The door handle was forced open, and the steering wheel was tampered with.
