With the recent resignation of Alderman Barb Durham, the city currently has an empty seat in Ward 2. You can live in any part of the city to fill the empty seat by 'appointment' to the Board of Aldermen.There are no restrictions on where you live inside city limits. So sign up!!

To be considered for appointment, contact City Clerk, Patrick Hunter at: 417-677-6175 - to be put on the list for consideration for appointment as ALDERMAN - Ward 2. The deadline to be added to the consideration list is June 3, 2025.  To qualify for appointment on the Board of Alderman you must:  Be a resident of Merriam Woods (from any Ward for appointment), be a U.S. Citizen, and by background check, you must not be in arrears on Federal or State Taxes or be a Felon. REMEMBER!  You ARE NOT limited to only live in Ward 2. For 'appointment', you can live in ANY part of the city to be eligible!
