The Fort Davis Recreation Center will close starting June 2, 2025, for demolition and rebuilding
The DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) and the DC Department of General Services (DGS) are pleased to inform the community that the project to construct a new Fort Davis Recreation Center (1400 41st Street, SE) and park is progressing. The community center will close to the public starting Monday, June 2, 2025, with the final day of operations for the recreation center of Saturday, May 31. While the park around the recreation center will remain open through the summer, the Fort Davis Splash Park will also be closed for the 2025 summer season.
This project includes demolishing the current community center and constructing a new facility, along with improvements to the surrounding landscape:
- Fitness Center
- Indoor Basketball
- Elevated Indoor Walking Track
- Commercial Kitchen
- Multipurpose Rooms
- Game Lounge
- Dance Studio
- New Entry Plaza
- Updated Playground and Outdoor Basketball Court
