?SCAM ALERT: FAKE DMV PAYMENT DEMANDS?
The Albany Police Department and the Albany City Treasurer's Office has received reports of scammers contacting residents, claiming to owe money to the DMV. These messages may come by phone, text, or an email often threatening legal action if payment isn't received.
?REMEMBER:
?City of Albany red light camera or school speed zone camera tickets do not come directly from the DMV.
?The DMV will never demand payment over the phone, text, or email.
?Do not click on links provided in the texts or emails.
? If you receive a message contact the DMV directly using the official website or phone number.
?Do not give out your social security number, credit card, or bank information to anyone who contacts you unexpectedly.
