Multiple DUI Arrests Over Memorial Day Weekend
On the evening of Friday, May 23, 2025, officers from the Petaluma Police Department conducted DUI Saturation Patrols which were grant funded through the Office of Traffic Safety. The primary focus for officers conducting DUI Saturation Patrols is to detect and arrest drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
During the evening hours officers located and arrested 3 drivers in the City of Petaluma who were determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol.
Sammuel Koppel was stopped for failure to obey a posted traffic sign. Upon contact the officer noticed signs of intoxication and conducted a DUI investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation Koppel was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. (25-1785)
Kai Braehmer was contacted after 2 collisions involving a total of 6 vehicles on two different streets. A community member took possession of Braehmer’s keys at the scene of the second collision to stop any further dangerous driving. Upon contact by officers, Braehmer displayed signs of intoxication, and a DUI investigation was conducted. At the conclusion of the investigation, Braehmer was determined to be driving under the influence of alcohol and arrested. Braehmer’s blood alcohol content was over double the legal limit. Braehmer was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol and violation of his probation. (25-1788)
Gael Garcia Carlino was stopped for driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Upon contact the officer noticed signs of alcohol intoxication and conducted a DUI investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation, Garcia Carlino was determined to be operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. His blood alcohol content was over double the legal limit. Garcia Carlino was later booked into the Sonoma County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license from a prior DUI, violation of probation, and a warrant. During the early hours of May 25th, Benjamin Tatum was stopped for multiple vehicle code violations. Upon contact, Tatum displayed signs of intoxication, and a DUI investigation was conducted. At the conclusion of the investigation the officer determined Tatum was driving under the influence of alcohol and was arrested. Tatum’s blood alcohol was over three times the legal limit. Tatum was booked into the Sonoma County Jail for driving under the influence of alcohol. (25-1798)
