Summer adult pickleball & youth field hockey announced; fall recreation programs announced

The City of Hoboken’s Recreation Division today announced the upcoming registration for summer pickleball, summer field hockey clinics, and fall recreation programs. This year’s fall offerings include youth soccer, flag football, volleyball, tennis, and field hockey.

Summer adult pickleball registration opens on June 3  

The summer adult pickleball program provides a great way for pickleball players to get exercise indoors in the recreation pickleball program. Sessions will be held in the Multi-Service Center and begin the week of July 7 and end the week of August 15. 

New field hockey summer clinics; registration opens on June 3 at 5 pm 

The City will host a series of beginner-friendly field hockey clinics for players entering 3rd through 8th grade. Sessions will be on the field at 1600 Park from 6:30 pm. to 8 pm.  

Sessions will be held on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday during the weeks of June 24, July 15, and August 12.  

Soccer registration will open on June 3, at 5 pm 

Youth Soccer is open to children entering Kindergarten through 8th grade who do not participate in travel soccer programs.  

For those entering Kindergarten and 1st grade, soccer sessions will take place on Saturdays from Sept. 20 through Nov. 1, with no session scheduled on Oct. 11.  

These sessions will be held at ResilienCity Park, 12th & Adams Streets, with the possibility of additional locations including 1600 Park and Sinatra Park. 

For children entering 2nd through 8th grades, the soccer season will begin with games starting on Sept. 20 and continuing through Nov. 1, with no games on Oct. 11.  

Playoffs and championship games will follow the regular season. Practices will begin before the first game and will be announced to all registered participants.  

Each team will have a designated practice schedule for the season, and registration is based on the grade the child is entering in the fall. 

Flag football registration will open on June 3 at 5 pm 

Flag Football is available to children entering 2nd through 8th grades. Team practices will begin the week of Sept. 7, and games will start the week of Sept. 21.  

All practices and games will take place at ResilienCity Park between the hours of 4 p.m. and 8 p.m.  

Boys in 2nd grade will have games on Mondays and Fridays.  

Boys in 3rd and 4th grades will participate on Sundays and Thursdays, as will those in 5th and 6th grades.  

Boys in 7th and 8th grades will meet on Wednesdays and Fridays.  

Girls in 2nd through 8th grades will have games on Mondays and Wednesdays.  

Volleyball registration will open on June 9 at 5 pm 

Volleyball is open to children entering 5th through 8th grades and will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  at the Multi-Service Center gym, 124 Grand St.  

The season is scheduled to begin on September 9 and end in November. 

Tennis registration will open on June 10 at 5 pm

Tennis sessions will be available at Columbus Park for children ages 6 to 14. The season is scheduled to begin the week of September 15 and end at the end of October with practices and games held on various days at various times.  

Field hockey registration will open on June 11 at 5 pm

Field Hockey is open to children entering 3rd through 8th grades. It will be held on Sundays from 1:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. at ResilienCity Park beginning the week of September 21 until early November. 

Families are encouraged to register promptly, as space in all programs is limited.
