The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.
MONDAY, MAY 19, 2025:
1:35 AM Officer Shaffer responded to a domestic disturbance near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd.
12:50 PM Community Service Officer (CSO) Lau investigated a vehicle burglary near Dupont Ave & Cedar Blvd. The locking mechanism was damaged in an attempt to pry open the rear door.
1:09 PM CSO Lau investigated the theft of several surveillance cameras from a business near Newark Blvd & Thornton Ave.
1:29 PM CSO Lau was dispatched to Buena Vista Dr & Cherry St for a theft of gasoline from a vehicle that occurred overnight.
TUESDAY, MAY 20, 2025:
4:22 AM Officer Shaffer investigated a vehicle theft and later recovered the stolen vehicle near Cedar Blvd & Rochelle Ave.
4:35 AM Officer Dale responded to a vehicle burglary that occurred near Cedar Blvd & Haley St. A side window was smashed, resulting in various commercial tools and accessories being taken.
4:40 PM Officer Kim investigated a shoplifting incident reported on Newpark Mall Road.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 21, 2025:
4:10 AM Officer Williams investigated a commercial burglary that occurred overnight near Mowry Ave & Cedar Blvd. The front door of the establishment was shattered. Reported loss included money from the cash register.
2:29 PM CSO Lau responded to a commercial burglary that occurred near Jarvis Ave & Fircrest St.
9:47 PM Officer Dale conducted a welfare check near Cherry St & George Ave. A 47-year-old female was arrested for public intoxication and battery on a police officer. She was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
THURSDAY, MAY 22, 2025:
9:35 AM CSO Lau investigated a report of license plate thefts that occurred near Sycamore & Magnolia Streets.
9:21 PM Officer Kim was dispatched to a vehicle theft that occurred near Cherry St & Mowry Ave.
9:48 PM Officer Pacheco conducted a pedestrian stop near Sycamore & Filbert Streets. A 54-year-old male with outstanding warrants was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
FRIDAY, MAY 23, 2025:
1:28 AM Officers responded to a vehicle theft reported near Cedar Blvd & Thornton Ave.
8:25 AM Officer Lor responded to a retail theft reported near Jarvis Ave & Newark Blvd.
10:45 AM Officer Kapu conducted a traffic stop near Newark Blvd & Thornton Ave. A 19-year-old male was arrested for evading a police officer, and possession of a firearm. He was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
11:47 AM Officer Lara investigated the theft of license plates from the area of Mowry Ave & Cherry St.
4:06 PM Officer Shaffer responded to a package theft from Seawind Way & Hickory St.
8:56 PM Officer Soto initiated a traffic stop near Mowry Ave & Cherry St. A 45-year-old male was cited for driving on a suspended license.
SATURDAY, MAY 24, 2025:
3:22 AM Officer Soto investigated a vehicle burglary near Cedar Blvd & Thornton Ave. No loss was reported.
5:08 PM Officer Diaz-Perez investigated a residential burglary near Cedar & Lake Blvd. Several articles of jewelry were taken from the residence.
5:34 PM CSO Mora responded to a commercial burglary that occurred near Jarvis Ave & Fircrest St.
SUNDAY, MAY 25, 2025:
4:05 AM Officer Orozco initiated a traffic stop near Sycamore St & Thornton Ave. A 36-year-old female, 34-year-old male, and 29-year-old female were all arrested for possession of stolen mail/packages. They were booked into Santa Rita Jail for possession of stolen property. A stolen vehicle was also recovered and returned to the owner.
8:16 AM Officer Jackman conducted a security check on Newpark Mall Road and discovered two vehicles that had been burglarized. Loss included tools.
8:58 AM Officer Lomeli recovered a stolen vehicle near Sandalwood & McDonald St.
9:30 AM Officer Taylor investigated a vehicle theft that occurred on Balentine Drive.
9:48 AM Officer Jackman responded to a domestic disturbance near Haley St & Jarvis Ave. A 31-year-old male was arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail.
11:08 AM Officer Stevenson was dispatched to Balentine Dr in response to an active fraud incident. A 29-year-old female was contacted on scene and arrested for possession of stolen documents, forgery and burglary. A 29-year-old male was arrested in possession of narcotics.
10:46 PM Officer Soto responded to a disturbance near Thornton Ave & Magnolia St. A 36-year-old male was arrested for domestic violence and was booked into Santa Rita Jail.
