INCIDENT: Vehicular Manslaughter While Intoxicated
LOCATION: Reno Loop Road/Sorrel Way, Victorville
SUSPECT(S): George Batiste Thenarse, 50-year-old Resident of Barstow
VICTIM(S): Unidentified Female
SUMMARY: On Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at approximately 8:57 p.m., deputies from the Victorville Police Station, along with Victorville Fire Department and American Medical Response personnel, responded to the area of Reno Loop Road and Sorrel Way for a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision.
Upon arrival, it was determined a gold Chevrolet Suburban struck a pedestrian. The female pedestrian was transported from the incident location to a local hospital. Despite life saving measures, the female was pronounced deceased at the hospital. The driver of the vehicle involved, later identified as George Thenarse, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.
The identity of the female pedestrian is pending investigation by the San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office. Members of the Victorville Major Accident Investigation Team were called to the scene and assumed the investigation. North and south-bound Reno Loop Road were closed for about four hours for the investigation.
