Open Gym reminder; June 11 CAPS Forum announced; Free rabies clinic June 14; Free COVID tests available
Reminder: Open gym program begins Friday
Residents are reminded that the City’s Open Gym Pilot Program begins on Friday, May 30, at the Damon Murray Community Gym, 605 Jackson St. The program will offer Hoboken youth and teens free access to the indoor gym space for recreational basketball in a safe, supportive, and fun environment.
Open gym sessions will be held every Friday and Saturday between May 30 and June 21. Friday evenings will be designated for high school students in ninth through 12th grades, with gym hours from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. On Saturdays, the gym will be open for younger participants in eighth grade and below between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Registration is not required to participate. All participants must bring their own basketballs, as the City will not be providing equipment. Open gym rules can be found at www.hobokennj.gov/resources/open-gym-rules.

CAPS meeting scheduled for June 11
The Hoboken Public Safety Department will host the next CAPS (Community and Public Safety) Forum, on Wednesday, June 11, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Wallace Elementary School cafeteria, 1100 Willow Ave. (Enter through the playground.)
Members of the community are invited to join representatives from the five Public Safety Divisions which include Police, Fire, Office of Emergency Management, EMS, and Health for short presentations, followed by a town-hall style conversation and Q&A session.
Get your pet vaccinated at a free rabies clinic
City of Hoboken will host a free rabies clinic on Saturday, June 14, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the ground floor of the Multi-Service Center, 124 Grand St.
The State of New Jersey and City of Hoboken require all dogs be vaccinated for rabies. A license is required to receive a vaccination, and licenses will be available for purchase at the clinic. Fees are $12 if the dog is spayed or neutered and $16 if the dog is not spayed or neutered. Only cash and checks will be accepted.
Cats do not need to be licensed in Hoboken, but it is strongly encouraged to have them vaccinated against rabies.
All dogs brought to the clinic must be on a leash, and all cats must be in a pet carrier. All pets mut be accompanied by an adult. Owners must clean up after their pets. Appointments are not required. Vaccinated animals will receive a tag and certificate.

Free COVID-19 test kits available
The City of Hoboken Health Division is providing free COVID-19 test kits to anyone who lives or works in Hoboken. Each kit includes two tests, and can be picked up, while supplies last, at the Health Division on the second floor of the Multi-Service Center, 124 Grand St., during regular hours: Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call (201) 420-2375.
