Earlier today, there was a gasoline spill at the Delta gas station on Route 183 that made its way into the canal. Thanks to the swift and professional response from our Stanhope Fire Department, as well as the County and State Hazmat teams, the situation was quickly contained and managed before it could spread further.

Additional cleanup efforts are now underway, and out of an abundance of caution, I recommend avoiding the area while crews continue their work.

Thank you to all the first responders and emergency personnel who acted so quickly to protect our community and environment. We’ll keep you updated as we learn more.
